Weekends are for homework.

I need a larger mirror. outfit 2/19/2012 studying surface anatomy

Sundays from 1-5pm are normally Zach and my official "date time" during the week. We stay off the computer, make lunch together and normally watch a movie and snuggle on the couch and it is really super awesome nice. I guess it may seem strange to schedule a specific date time but it has really helped us manage our time better to take care of our relationship. It's kind of like setting aside a precious space of time that I know and he knows we save just for each other. And with our completely opposite and hectic weekly work and school schedules it is very important.

However, Zachariah was scheduled to work this Sunday so I am just back to filing the day with homework doing. Which is fine, it happens; but it is really boring. Today is once again a day of homework, but only just today. Normal date Sundays will resume next weekend. :)

In other news, I am still slowly but surely getting fed up with our only and super tiny full sized mirror in the apartment and so I am vowing to purchase a good sized one from Ikea when I get my tax return. Perhaps maybe THIS one. Victory will be mine.

lazy lunch

It has also come to my attention that I am the laziest meal-cooker of all. I am gaining skill and ability to my food-making-arsenal but when I am the only one eating, I keep it stupid simple. *shrug*

Valentines Re-cap!

IMAG0885 IMAG0896 IMAG0897

I have always really liked the idea of Valentine's Day. Not really in the current cultural sense of the holiday being about expensive dates, jewelry and chocolate in order to get into someone's pants but as a reminder not to take for granted the loving relationships you have in your life be it friends, family or romantic interest. I like to see it as an opportunity to remind those I see that I care. My mom would always have candies and sweet messages for my brothers and I on Valentine's Day morning and it is a really pleasant tradition that I hope to keep. This year I sent out Harry Potter themed valentines with nice personal messages on them to a few of my friends and family. (If you didn't get one it's because I don't have your address! ;_; Please give them to me!)

And if anyone ever need's a pleasant message, I am super fond of snail-mail so I would be happy to send you one! :) I am hoping to expand my next year's mailings to more loved ones and keep this tradition going and growing!

BTW, instead of buying me roses, Zachariah painted and printed me out some! I thought it was super sweet. And don't be fooled, that bottle is full of sparkling apple cider. It was a week night so we had to keep it calm.

Finished objects, accomplished "to-do's" and the Davey

At the beginning of the new year I always have some goals for myself to get things lined up fresh for the new year. Since I was starting my masters in acupuncture this January it was especially important for me to have all my proverbial "ducks in a row" so I could focus solely on school. (Yes, Acupuncture school is a MASTERS PROGRAM. You have to have your undergraduate degree to apply along with many biology and chemistry prerequisites. And it is a three year program. It's a health care field and it is super surprising to me that people don't equate it with other medical field educational endeavors such as Physical Therapy, OT, Nursing, etc etc. You can also get your doctorate in it.) So, back to THIS POST, I have almost finished everything that I set out to do since then.

Most recently I have gone through my clothes and shoes and removed a whole trash bag full of items to donate but I am holding the trip till Zachariah gets around to his stuff. I also tried sorting things by color instead of item type. It looks a lot more neat to hang them this way but jury is still out on if I like this method better for finding things when I get dressed.

I have also gotten around to finishing some long-standing work-in-progress knitting like these Fiddlehead Mittens by Adrian Bizilia. I really love this pattern because it is neat looking, and lined so it makes for super warm mittens but it is literally one of the only knitting patters I consistently cannot achieve gauge on. I have tried knitting the smallest size on the suggested needles and I always end with mittens large enough for Zachariah instead of my size. So these are obviously going to be for him. :) I had a pair I made for myself that were red and white and I felted them and they were then prefect sized but they are lost forever so I will probably be making these Arrowhead mittens for myself to replace them eventually. I'm welcome to mitten suggestions though, especially if they are lined!

And in other news, we finished a campaign in D&D so I think we are all happy to be moving onward towards better adventures in the game. This past one was weird and drawn out and unnecessarily weighty.

I would also like to point out that Davey has the habit of moving from mat to mat in each room. I guess the floor is too cold for his sensitive bum.

On growing my hair

I've been growing my hair out now for quite a while. About two years from when it was a half inch long on my head. I have had a few cuttings in between then but this is the longest I have grown my hair out since middle school with out dying it at all. It's kind of nice having my natural hair color. I don't have to worry about roots or the expense that comes with re-dying and I get a lot of complements on my actual hair color. So, although I get urges to dye it all I don't think I am going to any time soon but I guess one can never really truly know what you will eventually do..

At any rate, it still isn't as long as I want it to be. My hair is very sraight and flat so When it gets down to my chest I think I will be happy. Then I will be able to do a messy top bun or mermaid curls or crazy braids.. i.e. all the hair styles I am growing my hair out for anyway. It takes forever to dry though. Sheesh!

Favorite dress, favorite sneakers.

IMAG0848 IMAG0852

First pulse intensive class was pretty kick butt. But I have SO much homework now. I have to take 40 different pulses each week! Dear friends and strangers, please show up in my life a lot so I can take your pulses. Thanks <3.

And if you didn't know, I love to wear black and I love Marimekko. This is one of my favorite dresses because it is black AND made of t-shirt material! (So it's super stretchy and comfy) I got it from Replicca a while ago and love it super extreme amounts, the exact dress is here. The sneakers are from the past converseXmarimekko collaboration. Two favorites = double awesome.

O.K. now back to my piles of homework!

Time sure flies when you have a lot to do..

It's been a busy few weeks. I seem to fall into a routine of boots/sneakers + skinny jeans + layered sweaters/tops when I am busy with school and don't really have anywhere to go out. Also, surprise cuts on annoying articulating points of your body (like knuckles) are super suck. Tomorrow we start our first "pulse intensive" course. I am really excited! It's been a whole lot of rotation between readings and papers for homework so I look forward to some practical application.

Whelp, I am going to go practice doing hand-stands against the wall and then get back to memorizing the officials and finishing my reading assignments.
